DIRFloortime® is a strengths-based, evidence-based model for human social emotional development. In the practice of Floortime®, we believe that when we understand a person's Developmental Capacity (D) and their unique Individual Differences (I), we can use a strong Relationships-based (R) approach to reaching your fullest potential across the lifespan. A Floortime® practitioner views a person wholistically, looking at all the sensory, motor, language, developmental, social, and cultural aspects of a person's life to support their ongoing growth towards their social emotional goals. In DIRFloortime®, we use affect, or the sincere expression of our emotional responses, to support initiation, motivation, connection, and building skills or relationships. This approach is based in decades of science learning how people grow and develop, learn language, social interactions, and developmental capacities.
